Beyond the Demo: How KonnectHouse Scaled App Engagement by 4.5x

Real World Results: Over 70% Adoption & 4.5x Engagement Does app engagement drop as your event scales? The data says no. See how KonnectHouse used an AI "Concierge" strategy to drive massive engagement with 300 senior executives.

Lots of EventTech demos are carefully staged. Everything works perfectly because the environment is controlled. But as every event organizer knows, the real test happens on-site, when the Wi-Fi is spotty, the schedule changes, and 300 executives are looking for where to go next.

Recently, I was on the ground at Navy Pier in Chicago for KonnectHouse’s Tech Sourcing event. I recorded a quick walk-and-talk to show what Highbar looks like in the wild, not just on a slide deck.

While the video shows the experience, the post-event analytics report proves the impact. Here is a look at what happens when you combine a "Digital Concierge" approach with an audience of high-level procurement professionals.

The "Concierge" Strategy

KonnectHouse wasn’t just looking for a digital brochure; they needed a tool to manage the logistics of 300 senior-level attendees.

In the video, I mentioned that the AI Co-Pilot acts as a "personal concierge." The data backs this up. The AI Co-Pilot wasn't a novelty; it was a workhorse. It handled 2,296 visits and answered 320 specific questions.

Instead of staff fielding hundreds of repetitive questions, the AI handled the immediate logistical load:

  • "What's on the agenda?" (133 queries)
  • "What is the Wi-Fi password?" (37 queries)
  • "What is the dress code?"

By offloading these functional questions to the AI, the human staff was free to focus on the high-touch aspects of the event.

The "Why" Behind the Match

One feature I highlighted in the video is our networking agent. Most apps just give you a list of names. We built Highbar to explain why a match makes sense.

Attendees didn't just browse; they hunted for value. While the general attendee list saw high traffic, the 671 specific searches performed via the Co-Pilot indicate that users were looking for specific content and people to solve specific problems.

The Data: Engagement Actually Increased at Scale

There is a common assumption in event tech: as your audience grows, your engagement per user usually dilutes.

Comparing this Tech Sourcing event to KonnectHouse's previous, smaller "Agentic AI" cohort, we saw the exact opposite.

  • 3.5x Audience Growth: The event scaled from 64 to 225 active app users.
  • 4.5x Activity Growth: Total actions in the app exploded from 4,336 to 19,906.

The intensity of usage actually increased with the crowd size. The average attendee performed 88 actions (up from 68 in the smaller cohort).

Where Did the Engagement Go?

The "Tech Sourcing" audience heavily relied on the app to navigate their day.

  • Schedule Reliance: Visits to the schedule skyrocketed to 20 visits per user.
  • Deep Dives: Users didn't just glance at the agenda; they clicked through. Session detail views jumped to 14 visits per user.
  • Stickiness: The Co-Pilot remained a central hub, averaging over 10 interactions per user.

The Takeaway

KonnectHouse achieved a 70%+ adoption rate not by forcing the technology, but by designing onramps that made it useful. They put a QR code on the back of the badge for 1-click logins. They used the AI to answer the questions people actually had.

The result was an app that didn't just look good in a demo, it worked in the real world.
